Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) is a system and language for observing, describing, notating, and understanding all forms of human movement and is developed by Rudolf Laban. The system is composed of four major components, Body, Effort, Space, and Shape (the what, the why, the how and the where of action) and the inter-relationships of these components. In this introductory course you will be introduced to all four components and embody them in various ways. You will develop and optimize your movement skills and will become a more conscious and facile mover. You will learn about the richness of the system and how you can use this system to create and analyze movement. The system can be used by anyone wishing to enhance, refine, and clarify movement.
